A 1954 Park Royal-bodied Bedford RLHZ "Green Goddess" fire tender. Built between 1953 and 1956 for the British Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS) to combat fires during major national emergencies. Based on the Bedford RL military chassis, these vehicles feature a 4.9-litre six-cylinder petrol engine and were equipped with a main pump capable of delivering 900 gallons of water per minute. While officially disbanded in 1968, some units remained in service for decades and were famously crewed by the military during firefighter strikes.
